Mathew Spilka is an associate in Whatley Drake & Kallas' New York City office active in cases representing physicians and medical associations in complex litigations combating the wrongful provider compensation practices of health insurers in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He is also a member of the team representing individual, corporate and public entity clients in complex litigation in federal court against the business practices of insurance brokers and carriers in In Re Insurance Brokerage Antitrust Litigation (MDL, D.N.J.).
Mr. Spilka received a B.A. in History from the University of California, Davis in 1983. Upon graduating from The University of Washington Law School in 1987, he joined Data Funding, an equipment leasing company based in California, where he remained through 1998, working in all areas of documentation and debt collection as well as database management. He joined Whatley Drake & Kallas in June 2006 after working at Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman since January 2001. Mr. Spilka's work in the healthcare and insurance broker actions includes participation in three large multi-district litigations in federal courts. He is a member of the California Bar Association since 1987.
